In questa guida vedremo insieme come scegliere la giusta misura dello skateboard. Questa guida è rivolta allo skateboard classico, non a cruiser o longboard, che sono tipi differenti di skate. Che tu voglia sapere quale skate è più adatto per bambini o semplicemente quale misura di skate è più adatta per te ecco tutto quello che devi sapere.
Se invece devi fare un regalo non puoi usare l’approccio precedente.
In questo caso se si tratta di un bambino e non hai avuto indicazioni specifiche ti consiglio di regalare uno skateboard classico, difficile sbagliare. Se nella città in cui abita il festeggiato non esistono skatepark opta per un cruiser così potrà usarlo dovunque. Se gli amichetti hanno dei cruiser regala un cruiser così gireranno in compagnia. Se gli amichetti usano skate classici opta per quest’ultimo. Ricorda che l’aggregazione è uno dei fattori principali nello skate.
Il primo fattore per la scelta della larghezza è il vostro piede. Se avete un piede sopra il 44 meglio stare su misure di almeno 8.5ad alla prima domanda che si fa Quindi per i bambini fino a circa 1m di altezza abbiamo le tavole Micro, per i bambini fino a 1,35 m abbiamo le mini, poi si passa alle mid size per i ragazzi fino a 1.50 m di altezza. Sopra questa misura cominciano le tavole cosiddette full size, in pratica le misure da adulto. Anche qua, anzi ancora di più troviamo però ulteriori misure tra le quali scegliere. La variabile principale nelle tavole fullsize è la larghezza.

Let’s get some of the skateboard lingo down first. The skateboard deck is the actual board itself. It refers to the flat, long board that you stand on when skateboarding. Skateboard decks vary in size but most are between 7″-10″, and are made of either seven-ply wood, bamboo, resin, carbon fiber or plastic. Deciding which skateboard deck is best for your buddy depends on what he or she will be skating and, of course, his or her personal brand preference.
Decks come in many different widths. If you are a beginner to skateboarding, choose your deck according to the width, not the length or wheelbase. The width you need depends on your size, skating style and personal preference. Here are some general guidelines.
It’s not uncommon to change your deck after a few weeks, especially if you skate hard. If you see that your wheels are uneven (wet and cold areas will do this!) or your deck is showing signs of splitting or cracking, it’s time to go back to the drawing board.

Quale misura di skateboard per bambino
Negli anni mi sono confrontato molte volte con colleghi istruttori, skaters e operatori del settore di ogni tipo. Ognuno ha una sua idea e spesso gli skaters consigliano anche ai bambini di usare misure da adulto. Di fatto tutti i migliori costruttori producono tavole skate specifiche per bambini e se lo fanno un motivo c'è. Qui di seguito trovate uno schema molto semplice che vi aiuterà a scegliere la misura di skate corretta in base all'altezza del bambino. Ricordate che le misure degli skate sono sempre in pollici.- Misure Micro – larghezza: 6.5″ – 6.75”, length: 27.2” – 27.6” Ideali per bambini di 5 anni o meno , who are under 3’5” tall, and who wear a size 3 shoe or smaller.
- Misure Mini – width: 7.0″, length: 28”. This size deck is great for skaters 6 to 8 years old who are between 3’5” and 4’4” tall and who wear size 4-6 shoes.
- Mid-size Deck – width: 7.3”, length: 29”. This size deck is great for skaters 9 to 12 years old who are between 4’5” and 5’2” tall who and wear size 7-8 shoes.

Full Size Deck – 7.5” or larger, width: For all skaters over age 13 who are taller than 5’3” with a shoe size of 9 and up. However, individual skating style will determine deck size for these decks:
- 7.5″ to 8″ – Standard board for adult riders skating streets or doing more technical tricks
- 8.0″ to 8.25″ – Skating pools, ramps and parks
- 8.25″ and larger – Vert, pools, cruising and just going old school

- La scelta della larghezza è un fattore molto personale. Quando la vostra esperienza crescerà imparerete a stabilire la vostra lunghezza e larghezza preferita da soli in base anche al vostro stile.

- Width – The average width of a skateboard deck is 7.5″- 8.25″. Width is influenced by the size of the rider and the type of riding. Bigger riders and those skating ramps and vert ramps typically prefer a wider deck. Street skaters usually choose a smaller deck. Choose your skateboard deck according to the width, not length.
- Length – The length of the skateboard is measured from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail. Average board length is 28″- 32″ but length is only referred to by advanced skaters.
- Wheelbase – The wheelbase is the distance from one pair of inner mounting holes to the other inner pair. The average wheelbase is 13″-15″, and again, the choice is influenced by the skill set of the rider
- Nose and Tail – The nose and tail of a skateboard can be hard to tell apart, but most decks provide you with graphics to distinguish the two apart. Also, most skateboard decks have a bigger kick on the nose and mellower kick on the tail.
- Mounting Holes – Mounting holes are pre-drilled holes where the skateboard trucks are attached. Arranged as two sets of four holes; one set is near the nose, the other near the tail.
- Ply – When looking at the side of the skateboard deck, thin layers of maple veneer are visible. Layering the wood in a cross-grain pattern creates a stronger board than a single solid piece of wood. The typical skateboard is seven-ply.
- Concave – The section of the board between the nose and tail curves up slightly on the sides. The concave gives the rider more control and increases the skateboard’s strength.
